Benefits of Drum-Style vs. Rotary Buffer

rotary bufferTo see the advantages of BuffPro’s innovative electrically operated drum style buffer design over other buffing systems, let’s first discuss how a traditional rotary design works. In a traditional rotary buffer, the powerful force driving it is run directly off the electric motor. This is referred to as a rotary design with a direct drive, which traditional buffers utilize.

Traditional Rotary Buffer

Because of this direct drive design, using a rotary buffer successfully requires both skill and experience. The rotary buffer can actually buff out surfaces too much – in inexperienced hands, it can remove paint clear off the surface of whatever you’re buffing, requiring a new paint job.  Definitely something you want to avoid!

Additionally, rotary buffers tend to take longer to achieve visually stunning results. Traditional rotary buffers can leave swirl marks even when used carefully, meaning you’ll have to spend at least twice as much time removing any swirls left by the first pass. This extra time means you’ll be working harder for longer, requiring a lot of upper body and back strength. Not to mention, worker fatigue increases the risk for mistakes and injuries, as specified by OSHA, which can be very costly.

To summarize, the cons that accompany traditional rotary buffers include:

  • Hard to use
  • Easily removes paint from surfaces
  • Time-Consuming
  • Swirls
  • Labor-intensive
  • Uncomfortable after extended use

The Buffpro Difference

The BuffPro drum-style buffer has been designed so that professional detailers get the best shine for their customers with the least time and effort, revolutionizing the manner in which surfaces are buffed and polished by changing the powered motion from a rotary rotation with a disc to an axial motion with a drum. The BuffPro has an electric motor, heat treated precision cut gears, and a variable speed locking trigger for ease of use.

What’s more? It is literally impossible to make swirl marks with BuffPro. Also, using Buffpro will lower costs associated with labor and materials by using centrifugal force to minimize splatters and keep pads cleaner, longer. This cuts down on the amount of chemicals used and reduces the need for masking and cleanup time.

So, why does Buffpro OUTSHINE the competition? Well, its list of advantages includes:

  • FAST – complete a full buff and polish in half the time you spend now
  • Easy to use
  • No swirl marks, EVER
  • Efficient and cost-effective
    • Improve accuracy, user fatigue, and daily quota
    • Reduce training and buffing time by 50%
    • Lower costs associated with labor and materials
    • Restore a high-gloss, durable shine in fewer steps

Professionals and Amateurs Alike Love Buffpro

Professionals love the ROI they get using Buffpro because:

  • It is easy to train anyone on its use.
  • Hourly employees’ time to buff is cut in half.
  • Many professionals get ROI on the machine in only a few weeks.

That’s good profit! And as for amateurs and DIYers, they love the BuffPro. Even a complete amateur can do a professional polishing job on any automotive, marine or aviation equipment the very first time.

BuffPro leaves more time for other maintenance and repairs for the auto, RV, marine, and aviation detailing professionals and enthusiasts alike. See our instructional video here and get your own here today! You’ll love the quality, craftsmanship, and performance of the BuffPro.

Good News Boat Owners! Boat Maintenance Just Got Easier

boat maintenanceKeeping your boat looking its best while battling the elements is one of the biggest frustrations when it comes to boat maintenance. There is nothing more exasperating than spending a hot, sunny weekend buffing and polishing your boat only to be left with annoying swirl marks, holograms, and patches of stubborn oxidation. It’s tempting to just give up and neglect this important step in boat maintenance, but the result can be very costly.

There is a way to care for your boat’s gel coat, fiberglass, metal, and plastic easily in half the time with half the supplies and less fatigue – and you’ll get a swirl-free showroom shine every time!

The Secret to Buffing & Polishing in ½ the Time

Boats have come a long way since they were made from papyrus and wood 8,000 years ago. Modern watercraft are now mostly constructed from fiberglass, gel coat, and aluminum – with these modern materials come modern problems such as corrosion, oxidation, cracking, and pitting. So how do you keep your entire boat – even the inside surfaces – clean, shiny, and protected with less effort? With the BuffPro® drum-style buffer.

The BuffPro system is superior to traditional rotary buffers because not only does it remove oxidation, corrosion and light scratches in half the time, it’s impossible to make new swirl marks and holograms, and it removes old ones. Additionally, BuffPro was designed by a professional detailer with handles that minimize awkward wrist positioning for comfort and speed. Restoring your boat to a glossy shine quickly means more time on the open water!

“This one tool has literally helped me build the company I work for. With its many pads and polishes for metal, paint and gel coat boats, I’ve been able to offer more services then I could’ve imagined without swirl marks and in half the time! Each item was built with quality for longevity in mind; from the pads to the Buffer itself. Let’s not forget the customer service; it’s very comforting to know if I have an issue or an order, it’s always Kevin answering the phone.” – Tri-Parts Polishing, Dylan Flowers, Effingham, IL

The BuffPro polisher is truly one-of-a-kind and is safe to use on most surfaces including bare metal, paint, stone, plastic, fiberglass and gel coat. • So easy to use, a novice can get a perfect shine the very first time.
  • Due to the axial motion of the BuffPro, it is impossible to make swirl marks.
  • Eliminates old holograms and swirl marks for good.
  • Restores a high-gloss, durable shine with fewer steps and supplies.
  • Electric and lightweight, it improves accuracy and user fatigue.
  • The style of the pads requires less buffing compound and fewer pads.
  • Less wasted time and money on compound slinging, splattering, and cleanup.
  • Approved for use on all boat, RV, auto, airplane, and equipment materials – even stone.

The Importance of Buffing & Removing Oxidation

All water and weather, whether it be salt or fresh water, sun, wind, or rain, will affect your boat in many ways, including discoloration and deterioration of the fiberglass, gel coat, plastic, metal, and trim components. If you are in a saltwater climate, not only is the water harsh, but the air and year-round sun are extremely hard on your marine equipment. It’s important to maintain your boat in these conditions more often.

Buffing and polishing regularly will keep the detrimental effects of the weather at bay and stop unnecessary aging, oxidation, surface cracking, and pitting and keep your boat looking its best while retaining its value. We know firsthand – if you can do it frustration-free with super results, you’ll want to do it more often.

Also, if you have fiberglass floors, plexiglass windows, plastic headlights, or a cabin with fiberglass or stone countertops, doors, and sills, you can use it here too. Remove scratches and oxidation and give it a like-new shine throughout. You’ll feel like you’ve bought a new boat and want to show it off!

“Being on a boat that’s moving through the water, it’s so clear. Everything falls into place in terms of what’s important and what’s not.” – James Taylor

The Key to Superior Boat Care

boat careThere are few things more exhilarating than cruising along a lake or hitting the high seas in a boat. It’s no wonder that there are approximately 12 million registered boats in the United States! Whether it’s fishing, water skiing, traveling, or all the above, boating is one of the country’s most popular recreational activities. No matter how or where you use your boat, simple boat care and the proper maintenance can avoid expensive repairs in the future and make your boating adventures safe and relaxing.

Boat Maintenance Checklist

Boat maintenance is like automobile maintenance in many ways. There are some basic items that require upkeep by the owner and a few items that need professional servicing. The most important thing you can do as a boat owner is to keep it clean, well lubricated, and covered. Use a marine-grade grease as it’s long lasting and provides added protection against rust and corrosion, keep canvas, covers, and upholstery dry and clean to prevent mold and mildew, and keep the bilge clean so you can be aware of leaking fuel or fluids and avoid a clogged bilge pump.

Annual boat care such as oil changes and painting the hull bottom are also important to the upkeep of your boat, as is regular buffing and polishing of the fiberglass and gel coat that will quickly oxidize if not washed and waxed regularly.

A basic checklist for boat care includes:

  • Maintain the engine and lubricate mechanical parts
  • Take care of the hull and topsides
  • Service the electrical system and batteries
  • Clean and protect the canvas and upholstery
  • Monitor, flush and service the bilge pumps and plumbing
  • Check wiper blades, prop, running lights, and anchors for damage and function
  • Service the HVAC, heater, and appliances as needed
  • Flush the engine/motor with fresh water after every use in saltwater

In general, you can expect to pay about 10% of the cost of your boat in annual maintenance. Neglecting basic care can be very costly, especially if you use it in saltwater environments.

Salt Water’s Effect on Boats

All elements can affect a boat’s condition but if you are a saltwater boater, your boat will require extra TLC. That’s because salt water and sea air are extremely harsh on marine equipment. In fact, salt-laden air and water are some of the worst contributors to corrosion and can rapidly cause fiberglass deterioration, oxidation, and pitting.

Since engines are made of metal, they are susceptible to fast pitting and rusting and salt expedites that process. One vital action you need to take after boating in saltwater is to flush your boat’s engine with fresh water to rinse both the engine and the cooling system. Further, saltwater will cause the fiberglass on your boat to fade, crack, and scratch faster compared to freshwater, so it’s important to regularly rinse the hull. It’s also crucial to keep metals and electrical wiring sealed and as dry as possible to avoid damage. Finally, using antifouling paint can act as a barrier between salt and the hull which can prevent weakening and corrosion of metal.

Oxidation Removal & Swirl-Free Polishing for Boat Care

Whether you’re a freshwater or saltwater boater, oxidation removal is a time-consuming chore that can be less than enjoyable. Fortunately, there is a fast, easy, affordable way to make your boat look like brand-new in half the time you’re used to. The unique BuffPro® buffer/polisher removes oxidation, corrosion, and swirl-marks and provides a high-gloss shine in less than half the time of traditional rotary buffer/polishers.

The unique drum-style buffer was designed to be simple, lightweight, and comfortable to use. Best of all, it removes old swirl marks and holograms and makes it impossible to create new ones. BuffPro is also safe on metal, paint, plastic, fiberglass and gel coat. Check out our short how-to videos and see how easy it is – even for a beginner – to get a perfect shine the first time.

Proper RV/Airstream Maintenance

rv maintenanceDo you spend the summer near the beach or winters in the desert in your RV? As you know, saltwater, rain, mud, and other elements can take a huge toll on the exterior of your RV or Airstream. Whether you choose to use your RV/Airstream as a year-round home or occasional vacation house, it’s a huge investment that requires proper RV maintenance for enjoyment and value.

In addition to basic maintenance such as oil and air filter changes, you also need to pay attention to the exterior as trailers, RV’s and Airstreams will become significantly oxidized if they aren’t polished regularly. It’s tempting to ignore this daunting task as it can take an entire weekend and you still have those annoying holograms and swirl marks that just don’t ever seem to go away. Fortunately, there is an easy, swirl-free solution – and it’s endorsed by industry professionals.

“The BuffPro axial buffer has been a part of my vintage trailer polishing profession for almost three years and is the one piece of equipment that my customers refer to when they make inquiries about hiring me. They say, “You use that drum buffer, the BuffPro, right?” They ask that because they know they’re going to get a shine that’s going to be swirl free. Not only does it create a swirl-free finish, it cuts my polishing man hour time drastically.” – Tim McNutt, Tim’s Airstream Polishing, Martinez, GA

RV Maintenance: Easy Polishing and Oxidation Removal

Our revolutionary electric BuffPro® system removes oxidation and gives your RV or Airstream a high gloss shine in about half the time as traditional buffing/polishing methods. Our unique drum-style machine was actually designed by a professional detailer and was specifically made to be comfortable to use during big jobs. The dual pistol grip handles are ergonomically designed to minimize awkward wrist positioning when polishing your RV. This means you can less time on maintenance and more time enjoying your travels.

Fun fact: According to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), there are about 8.2 million households in America that own RVs. The average RV owner travels 26 days per year and an average of 4500 miles per year. About 500,000 owners are full-time RVers. You’ve got quite an RV community!

Top 5 Midwest Boating Destinations

Marine polishing“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing − absolutely nothing − half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”  If you’re a boat lover you can relate to this famous quote by Kenneth Grahame from The Wind in the Willows. Afterall, nothing is more exhilarating than planning  perfect boating destinations and feeling the water and breeze on your skin as you travel the oceans, rivers, and lakes by boat.

To help you plan your summer fun, we at BuffPro® came up with our Top 5 Midwest Boating Destinations to make your boating vacation a memorable one. Just imagine the wind in your hair as you read and daydream about the following fresh-water options.

A Boater’s Paradise – Traverse City, Michigan

Located in northern Michigan, Traverse City’s clear blue Lake Michigan waters beckon boaters, fisherman, and beachgoers as the first of our boating destinations. Fishing multiple lakes for king salmon, perch, trout, whitefish, and walleye is a fisherman’s dream come true. Those who love to boat, tube, waterski, dive, sail, wakeboard, windsurf and beach-it could stay forever. The pristine lakes and fresh water make this part of the Great Lakes region like no other. In fact, Boating Magazine named Traverse City one of its “Ten Best Places to Live and Boat.” For boaters, both power and sail, the combination of Lake Michigan and 26 large inland lakes offer a perfect boating destination.

Along with boating, there is much to see and do in and around Traverse City, including the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which towers 400 feet above Lake Michigan. In 2011, Good Morning America named it “The Most Beautiful Place in America.” Grand Traverse Bay also shares the same latitude as Italy’s Piedmont Region and Boudreaux in France, making it one of the Travel Channel’s top 10 cities for wine snobs. This same 45th parallel also makes for some of the longest summer days in the US, giving you more time to enjoy boating and all kinds of water recreation. Traverse City is home of the famous National Cherry Festival and one of most agriculturally diverse regions of the US. It’s no wonder it was named one of Bon Appetit’s Top 5 Food Towns in 2010.

Windy City Sailing – Chicago, Illinois

boating destinationsAlso located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago combines both the excitement of one of the nation’s largest cities with the beauty of the Great Lakes. Enjoy world class sailing against the backdrop of the city’s famous skyline. Some places you’ll want to check out include Montrose Harbor and Beach, the epitome of the waterfront summertime boating life. Enjoy a bustling marina, restaurants, live music and a large beach that offers a beautiful view of the Windy City.

If you love fishing, head north of Chicago to Lake County, a great place to catch perch, trout and king salmon. July is a great month for boating in Chicago starting with the Race to Mackinac on July 11th. It’s the longest and oldest freshwater sailing race in the world. You can watch teams set sail at Navy Pier by the Chicago Lighthouse and never leave your own boat. On July 25th, there’s the Chicago Scene boat party, which is the largest water social scene of the summer. If you’re in the area in August, you won’t want to miss the Chicago Air and Water Show. Catch stunt planes and the Blue Angels from the comfort of your boat and away from the crowds. Other boating excursions include overnight trips to Michigan, or for a different view of Chicago, take day trips up and down the south bank of the Chicago River.

Shallow Fishing – Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin

One of the most popular boating destinations in inland Wisconsin, Lake Winnebago is a shallow freshwater lake and a fisherman’s paradise. In fact, in June 2010, Oshkosh hosted a fishing tournament that still holds the Guinness World Record as the largest in history! It’s no wonder many fishermen consider it one the best places in the nation to catch walleye. Other species abound, including bluegill, bass, pike, perch and catfish. The largest lake located entirely within the state, it has 88 miles of shoreline, a maximum depth of 21 feet and contains several islands to explore along its west shore.

If fishing isn’t your thing, not to worry. There are many things to do all over the picturesque, nature-inspired area including boating for fun, hiking, biking, water parks, a bustling nightlife with plenty of live music; museums, outlet malls, and a zoo in Oshkosh. Auto enthusiasts will also be thrilled with the classic car museum in nearby Fond Du Lac.

1150 Miles of Shoreline – Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

It may be hard to believe but Lake of the Ozarks has 1,150 miles of coastline – more than California! This unique man-made lake is only 75 years old but is one of the most popular boating destinations in the Midwest. It’s a great place for tubing, waterskiing or just cruising the endless shoreline. Whether you like fine dining and vibrant nightlife, family-friendly fun, or just relaxing, Lake of the Ozarks has something for everyone. The small towns up and down the rugged coast offer arcades, ice cream shops and unique stores, as well as many fantastic boat-in restaurants where you can dock your boat and relax waterside.

If you’re visiting in late July, you won’t want to miss Aquapalooza, the lake’s largest family-friendly boating event held July 20th – all boaters invited! Live music and activities keep the fun flowing all day long. August 24-25th is the 31st Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. Powerboat Magazine calls it one of the “must-see boating events” in the nation. It is the largest unsanctioned race in the United States with more than 100 racers and 100,000 spectators. Not ready to be done with boating fun? End your summer with a bang Labor Day weekend watching multiple firework displays from your boat and enjoy the last long days of summer on the water.

500 Lakes & More – Brainerd, Minnesota

Minnesota is known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” and is a dream come true for the serious boater. We chose the Brainerd area in our boating destinations list simply because it’s comprised of more than 500 lakes and beautiful scenery. You could boat here all summer and never run out of places to explore – no wonder Minnesotans call it the “heart of lake country.” The larger lakes offer opportunities for tubing, skiing and wakeboarding. If you want a quiet more relaxing experience, enjoy your boat or paddle a canoe on some of the smaller lakes or down the Mississippi or Gull Rivers. There are waterfront restaurants galore that make for an easy, relaxing day of boating, dining, and socializing. If you’re wanting fun things to do on land, Brainerd offers many natural areas for hiking, biking, and walking, an International Raceway, water parks, breweries, shopping, golf, and a wildlife sanctuary that will take your breath away.

The Secret to Buffing & Polishing Cars – From the Classics to Brand New Beauties

Cars – The Great American Love Affair

how to polish carsDid you know the first automobile patent was actually issued in 1886 to Karl Benz in Germany, not Henry Ford as most of us would believe? However, we have the Ford Motor Company to thank for beginning assembly-line mass production of the Model T in 1913 at a high-end cost of $850. By 1924, they sold for a mere $290, and suddenly cars were affordable to almost everyone. Thus, the American love affair with the automobile was born!

Whether your car is merely functional to get you from point A to point B, you’re a classic car collector who spends countless hours on restoration, or you’re a sports car fanatic, it’s hard to imagine life without them. The important thing about making any car last and enjoying the drive is upkeep – there’s no better way to lengthen the life of a vehicle and keep its worth than by maintaining it to the fullest. You have to know the secret about how to polish cars. Here are some fun facts about cars and the best-kept secret for easy exterior maintenance.

“Over the course of 2018, Americans collectively spent 70 billion hours behind the wheel.” – AAA

For the Classic Car Enthusiast

If you’re a classic car owner, nothing beats showing off your most prized possession at a local car show. It seems everyone has their favorite and it varies from state to state. Here in Missouri, where BuffPro is headquartered, the most popular classic car is the 1969 Dodge Charger. The 1969 Charger is also the classic automobile of choice in Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Texas. If you own one of these, you’re probably the envy of vintage car fanatics all over the country!

In neighboring Illinois, the classic car of choice is the 1969 Dodge El Camino. If you head out West to California, it’s the 1967 Ford Mustang, and in Idaho, it’s the 1935 Ford Pickup. The 1964 Ford Fairlane is the most sought-after choice in Oklahoma, and in South Carolina, they’re partial to the 1968 Chevy Camaro. If you’re like us, you love them all!

What most car owners don’t love are the hours spent polishing and trying to remove oxidation, rust, corrosion, scratches, and other sins from the exterior. That’s why you’ll love BuffPro® who knows how to polish cars. Compared to rotary-style buffers, drum-style BuffPro is proven to cut polishing time in half and safely eliminate swirl marks, holograms, and all exterior issues – even cloudy headlights – with ease. Non-rotary BuffPro is the secret to a showroom shine, every time, with less effort and actual joy in the process.

For the Modern Sports Car Fanatic

If you’re a modern car fan or sports car enthusiast, chances are, you go for style and speed. After all, what’s more exhilarating than the excitement of racing down an open stretch of highway in a sleek, high-performance vehicle? Nothing gives the feeling of freedom like the acceleration and fluid ride of a beautiful sport car.

If you’re lucky enough to own one of these, undoubtedly you see the admiration of most the guys (and women) in your neighborhood. Unfortunately, you probably also spend countless hours detailing and polishing your baby and still can’t eliminate those annoying holograms and swirl marks and have to use several different tools, compounds, and pads to try to get the shine you want. The BuffPro buffer knows how to polish cars and will put an end to that once and for all and give you more time to enjoy driving.

Americans have long had passion for fast cars and that’s reflected in the five most popular sports cars today: Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Chevy Corvette, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911.

The BuffPro Difference

Whether you’re a collector, sports-car fan, or a functional driver going to work and running errands, you know that proper car maintenance, outside and under the hood, will extend its life, keep it reliable, and make it feel new longer. And, nothing shows pride of ownership like a high gloss shine all the time.

We’re confident, like so many before you, you’ll love our BuffPro buffer for complete exterior car care. If you read our testimonials or ask anyone familiar with BuffPro, they’ll tell you, “Nothing works faster or gives you better results in less time.” That’s because we engineered our high-quality, electric drum-style BuffPro buffer to fix all the frustrating buffing and polishing issues that other products on the market create:

  • Super easy to use the first time – no prior buffing experience necessary.
  • Eliminates annoying holograms and swirl marks – and it’s impossible to make new ones.
  • Buffs and polishes all surfaces (even headlamps) in about half the time as other buffer/polishers on the market.
  • Requires much less physical effort, less compound, and fewer pads.

“Americans spend an average of 17,600 minutes driving each year.” – AAA

The majestic redwood trees and stunning beach views are a photographer’s dream come true. If you love a sporty drive, you will love the narrow, winding, often coastal-edge roads – in fact, it’s a convertible top-down, wind-in-your-hair kind of drive. You can make your way from San Diego all the way up to the Oregon border in about 10 hours and will experience amazing coastal views, seaside villages, and lush untouched forest. Depending on how much time you have, why not enjoy a side trip to Napa Valley and Wine Country?

Historic New England

New England is home to the richest history in the United States and has something for everyone! It’s one of the most beautiful and picturesque parts of the country. The six states that makeup New England – Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont – each have their own flavor. Massachusetts is the heart of New England and has the richest history and influence in this part of the country. Connecticut is largely suburban and home of the prestigious Yale University. Rhode Island is the smallest (and one of the most charming) states in the US. It has a beautiful coastline and some of the oldest and most historic towns in the country. Maine is made up of not only gorgeous coastline but forests, lakes, and rivers. It’s also home to a large black bear population! If you love mountains, make sure to visit New Hampshire, the most mountainous state in New England. Last, but not least is Vermont, the most rural state in America. It consists mostly of picturesque farms and villages and offers great hiking and fishing in the summer. New England has a diverse history and landscape that everyone should experience in their lifetime.

The Desert Southwest

The haunting beauty of the Southwest is unmatched. The mountains and valleys of Arizona, Utah, and Nevada comprise one of the world’s greatest natural landscapes. There is much to be seen on this trip starting with the Grand Canyon, which is truly one of the natural wonders of the world. You’ll also want to take a drive through Monument Valley, a red-sand region on the Arizona-Utah border with incredible towering sandstone buttes. In fact, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is a frequent filming location for many western movies.

And let’s not forget the Mother Road – Route 66! Travel west from the Arizona border through the Mojave Desert all the way to California and the Pacific Coast and stop at the fabled hotel-motels along the way for a flashback in time. Finally, no trip through the Southwest would be complete with a stop at the world-famous Hoover Dam.

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

This is one trip that everyone should experience. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles of breathtaking scenery from Virginia to Cherokee, North Carolina. With a speed limit of 45 MPH and no large trucks allowed, you can relax, roll the windows down, and enjoy amazing vistas the entire trip. The region has a long history as an arts-and-cultural destination and there are numerous towns and villages along the way that allow you to explore and experience the culture that’s unique to the Smokey Mountain and Appalachian area.

RV Care & Airstreams Maintenance Tips

rv careWhether you think of it as your beach villa, mountain cabin, lake house, office, or even a permanent residence, your RV or Airstream is possibly one of the most expensive investments you’ve ever made. RV care requires all the standard maintenance of a car or truck and so much more. After all, you want to protect your prized possession for years to come. Preventative care can save you a lot of time, money and headache down the road. Below are some of the most important things you can do to keep your RV in tip-top shape.

Inspect the Roof

The old saying “out of sight out of mind” is especially true when it comes to RV and Airstream roofs. They are prone to sun and environmental damage and often neglected until there is a serious issue. When thinking about RV care, it’s important keep your RV/Airstream covered when not in use and inspect the roof every few months. Water leaks can occur through the open seams of the roof edges, skylights, vents or air conditioning, potentially causing extensive water damage and mold issues. Even if you choose to keep your RV covered, it’s vital to apply an appropriate sealant to prevent leaks.

Regular Oil Changes

Most RV’s tend to sit a lot more than your average car so having a regular oil change may not be on the top of your priority list. For routine RV care, it’s recommended to have an oil change every 3000-5000 miles, if the vehicle is used extensively. However, even if it’s not used frequently, it’s suggested that you change the oil at least yearly to prevent excessive wear and tear on the engine. An annual oil change can help save on costly repairs down the road. In addition, remember to change your air, fuel and coolant filters yearly as well.

Keep Your Vents Open

If your RV is unused during the summer, it can become incredibly hot inside. Depending on the climate, the temperature can reach up to 130° F! The heat causes the inside materials to deteriorate, resulting in damage to your seals, floors, wall coverings, etc. Keep your vents open when not in use to promote better airflow and a lower inside temperature. Just make sure your exterior vents are covered to keep the rainwater out.

Maintain Your Wastewater System

It’s extremely important to use proper chemicals for your waste system. Also, make sure that you have adequate amounts of fluid to maintain the system after flushing. Neglecting your RV’s waste system can result in excessive buildup and can cause clogging or even failure of operation, resulting in a smelly, expensive mess.

Polishing & Oxidation Removal

Trailers, RV’s and Airstreams will become significantly oxidized if not polished regularly. It’s tempting to neglect this vital RV care step as traditional methods are extremely labor-intensive. However, with the unique drum-style BuffPro® polisher, your home-away-from-home can look fantastic in about half the time!

BuffPro not only polishes away oxidation quickly, it removes those frustrating swirls and holograms and eliminates light scratches. It also buffs and polishes all surfaces, including metal, stone, gel coat, plastic, and painted surfaces. One tool makes it fool-proof! Curious to see how well BuffPro Works? Road Trip Destinations in the United States

road trip destinationsWhether you enjoy hitting the open road for summer vacation or it’s your full-time lifestyle, nothing beats the freedom and comfort of planning road trip destinations and traveling the country in an RV or Airstream. Want to live by a beach in July, cool down in the mountains in August, and hit the desert in September? With an RV or Airstream, the possibilities are endless! Plus, if you don’t like the “neighborhood,” you can just pack up and go.

Our team at BuffPro thought it would be fun to compile a list of the Top 5 RV road trip destinations and parks in the United States. We soon found out that there are so many amazing options, it was difficult to narrow it down. After much deliberation, we finally came up with 5 categories to get you started on your next adventure: East Coast Beaches, Midwest Great Lakes, Southwest Desert, Western Mountains, and California Wine Country.

East Coast Beach RV Vacation

From Maine to Florida, there are so many incredible beach parks, it’s difficult to choose just one. However, we chose the Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for several reasons. It’s the largest beach campground on the East Coast and offers over 800 sites across 310 spectacular oceanfront acres.

Each site is large and offers full hookups. In addition, it’s family friendly and even has a water park for the kid in all of us, as well as a golf course, and plenty of nearby restaurants. Myrtle Beach is also home to the famous 200-foot Skywheel, the tallest Ferris wheel on the eastern shore. If you love history, beautiful Charleston is only about 2-hour drive and makes a great day trip.

Great Lakes RV Getaway

If you’ve never been to the shores of Lake Michigan you are in for a treat! The mild weather, sandy beaches, and stunningly blue freshwater lake are a wonderful alternative to an ocean vacation. We chose Grand Haven State Park as our RV home-away-from-home. The park is bordered not only by the pristine lake but also the mouth of the Grand River. You’ll enjoy swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, and a fishing pier and lighthouse, as well a boardwalk that allows you to walk or bike along the river for over a mile.

In addition to the amenities that Grand Haven has to offer, there are several other quaint beach towns that are all just a short drive away including Holland, South Haven, and Saugatuck. Each little town has its own unique flavor so there is something for everyone including boutique shopping, live music, art galleries, local breweries, wineries, gastro-dining, farmers markets, the blueberry festival, and nightly light shows. The campground includes 174 paved sites and tends to book up quickly, so it’s recommended that you reserve your spot in advance.

Southwest Desert RV Excursion

Nothing beats the breathtaking scenery that is unique to the desert Southwest. You may even feel like you’re driving in a picture as you make your way to Spanish Trail RV park in Moab, Utah. This is a great destination for those who love roughing it in the outdoors. The camp is close to two very popular parks with incredible views: Arches National Park and Canyonland National Park. You can spend hours or even days hiking and biking the trails of these beautiful parks.

Enjoy whitewater rafting on the Colorado River while relishing the view of the La Sal Mountains. If hiking and rafting are a little too much for you, take a scenic drive around the park and area. After a long day of exploring Moab, head back to camp and enjoy all the creature comforts that you expect, including full utility hookups, free cable TV, and Wi-Fi. Spanish Trail is also known for sparkling clean bathrooms and showers. Other amenities include a dog park, laundromat, and a convenience store.

Mountain Park RV Adventure

Buffalo Crossing RV Park is our 2019 mountain RV road trip destinations. This newer RV park offers generously proportioned sites to allow easy pull-through or back-in of even the largest of Class-A coaches. It’s located just steps away from Yellowstone, the oldest national park in the United States. Yellowstone offers nearly 3500-square miles of wilderness recreation atop a volcanic hot spot. In fact, the park is so large that if spans Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho! It features dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs and gushing geysers, including the most famous of all, Old Faithful. It’s home to hundreds of animal species including bears, wolves, bison, elk, and antelope. It is truly a place everyone should experience once in their lives.

California Wine Country RV Retreat

We chose the Wine Country Resort as our top pick when visiting California wine country. Each RV site comes with its own picnic table, offers full hookups, and can handle rigs up to 70 feet. This all-ages family-friendly resort in the Paso Robles wine region offers boundless activities. Enjoy live music, entertainment, dancing, wine tasting, and outdoor movies in the beautiful wine garden. All the comforts of home are available including cable TV and free Wi-Fi, as well as a pool and a hot tub.

The park is centrally located within walking distance of the Raven Water Park and just a short drive to the famous Hearst Castle in San Simeon. There’s so much to do in the area you’ll enjoy every minute whether you’re hiking, biking, wine tasting, boutique shopping, fine dining, championship golfing, or visiting the local craft breweries.

Exceptional RV Care with BuffPro

Since your RV/Airstream is your vacation home or maybe even your permanent residence, it’s important to treat it with the same care as you would any house. The wear-and-tear of the open road and different climates and environments can be hard on the exterior.

With the unique BuffPro® buffing system, you can show pride of ownership in about half the time it takes to buff and polish your RV using traditional methods. Pulling a boat or ATV? You can keep those in ship-shape too! In just minutes, BuffPro eliminates scratches, oxidation, holograms, and swirl marks (even old ones) and restores a high-gloss shine. New Drone Laws and Regulations and Aviation Safety

How New Done Laws and Regulations are Helping Aviation Safety

done laws and regulationsEvery year more drones that take to the skies and share airspace with aircraft. While the pace of drone ownership seems to be slowing, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) estimated that as of December 2018 there were about 1.25 million drones identified as aircraft models. With the increase in these unmanned aerial vehicles, new drone laws and regulations have been introduced that help ensure aviation safety as drones are integrated into the national airspace system.

Updated Rules for Flying Drones

In January 2019, new recreational drone rules were proposed that affect Part 107 to help balance safety risks without inhibiting advances in technology and operations.

No matter if you’re a professional pilot, recreational flier, modeler, the following are some of the basic safety guidelines that all drone operators must follow:

  • Know if you need a pilot certificate
  • Register your drone with the FAA
  • Always keep your drone within eyesight
  • Avoid other aircraft and obstacles
  • Notify the control tower if you will be flying within five miles of an airport
  • Don’t fly in bad weather
  • Know and follow privacy laws and restrictions
  • Follow local laws and ordinances before flying over sensitive infrastructure or private property

Tips &Tricks for Metal Polishing

The Best Technique for Metal Polishing

At BuffPro, we know that metal polishing is one of the biggest challenges, especially on cars, trucks, airplanes, boats, RVs, tractor-trailers, and Airstreams. If you’ve ever tried to polish metal by hand or with a rotary buffer, you know that you can polish for hours with little to no results. It’s tempting to just ignore the problems of oxidation and corrosion due to lack of time, expense, and frustration. However, long-term, that could be a costly mistake – oxidation and rust, if left untreated, will eventually destroy metal.

The BuffPro Difference

Everything about BuffPro has been designed so that amateurs and professionals alike can get the best results with the least time and effort. And, not only is it the easiest buffer on the market to use, we have specialized heavy-cutting, polishing, and finishing wool pads designed to remove even the toughest oxidation and corrosion.

Plane Detailing Tips and Tricks

Plane Polishing
The BuffPro Buffer can help you create a perfect polish on your aviation equipment in up to half the time of traditional buffers.

Plane Detailing Extends the Life of Your Aircraft

Are you looking to improve the appearance of your aircraft and protect its exterior? Whether flying through the skies or parked on the tarmac, planes are affected by weather conditions that can contribute to exterior damage. But how does plane detailing work to extend the life of your aircraft?

Sunlight and UV rays can speed the rate of corrosion and paint fading on any metal surface. As a plane owner, hanger owner, or corporate aviation firm, preventative measures serve to protect your airplane’s (or your aviation fleet’s) finish from the destructive effects of weather damage. Polishing the exterior of your aircraft will not only keep your plane in pristine condition, but it will also likely increase the life of your paint and reduce corrosion and oxidation.

In the past, polishing a plane was labor intensive with expensive rubbing compounds and rotary equipment that left swirl marks. BuffPro offers a non-rotary, swirl-free electric buffer and an innovative polishing system that will give you a protective mirror shine in half the time.

No matter the age of your aircraft, the following tips and tricks for plane detailing with the BuffPro line of aviation products will help you get the mirror finish you want:

#1 Prepare the Surface for Polishing

Using warm water and a mild detergent, clean the surface you wish to polish. Washing the exterior of the aircraft removes residues and contaminants that can get trapped under the polishing compound and become embedded into the surface.

Taking the time to prepare the exterior also allows you to examine the surface condition for areas of corrosion and erosion that need repair.

Finally, tape off the leading edges of the wings and any ports to keep polish from entering.

#2 Apply Polishing Compound

Next, apply a strip or two of polish onto the surface you will work on. We recommend working on one small section of the plane at a time. For example, focus first on the nose and then work your way to the rear of the fuselage.

Try applying the polish in a hashtag pattern across the surface, horizontally first and then vertically.

#3 Use an Electric Buffer for a Professional Finish

When using the BuffPro buffer, start spreading the polish on the lowest setting over the area you’re working on. Once you’ve spread the polish, increase the buffer’s speed, and slowly move it back and forth across the surface until it’s shiny or the polish compound is used up.

Lastly, wipe away any excess polish. When you have finished, your aircraft should have a mirror finish and protection from corrosion.

How Often is Plane Detailing Recommended?

We recommend polishing your aircraft about three times a year or whenever you notice cloudiness, oxidation, or water spots on the exterior surface. We also suggest a thorough polish before putting your plane in storage for an extended period.

By following this schedule, you can remove spots and other surface damage before they become problems and ensure continued longevity for your aircraft.

BuffPro is All You Need to Keep Your Aviation Fleet Buffed & Polished

With all the curves, angles, and different materials, polishing a plane isn’t easy. This is especially true when attempted by hand or with a traditional rotary buffer.

The BuffPro polisher drum action works smoothly around all surfaces of your aircraft. Also, we have designed the polishing compound for use on painted surfaces, metals, fiberglass, gel-coated surfaces, resins, and more. Furthermore, the polisher efficiently applies less compound without waste and doesn’t leave swirls and streaks. Your plane will have the high-gloss, durable shine that you want. And, with the BuffPro buffer, you can complete the job in 50% less time than it takes with a traditional rotary buffer.

To give your plane a professional shine, order your kit online today (we have super savings on BuffPro starter kits). If you have questions about which kit to start with, call our customer service professionals for assistance at 1-800-699-4160. We are standing by ready to help!
